Thymus nitidus -  Perennial. 5-10 cms height. 30 cms height. Full sun to part shade but prefers a sunny position. Mauve flowers in the summer. Flowers en masse and very attractive to bees. Excellent carpet forming ground cover. Needs an open airy position to grow well. Grows well in poor to average, well drained soil. Culinary herb, especially good in marmalades, chutneys and stews. Small, green needle like leaves, which have a lovely orange peel aroma. Drought tolerant once established. Avoid over watering. Lightly prune or harvest in growing season, to maintain healthy vigorous growth. Frost hardy.
