Juniperus communis - Hardy, evergreen, self fertile form of the common juniper berry Full sun to part shade. Height to 9 metres, by 4 metres width. Can grow in coastal gardens. Low maintenance tree. Frost hardy. A good browsing, medicinal plant for animals such as horses, goats, deer and sheep. The whole plant is good for them. Juniper grows in most well drained soil types. Produces edible berries, used to flavour various dishes. The berries are also used medicinally. Juniper berries have a long history of medicinal use, they were known to and used by the ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans.
